Small numbers. Clearer choices.

Make the everyday
a little easier.

Compare the shelf price, check a sale, or share the bill. Three practical calculators with the working shown.

Use a decimal point or comma, without thousands separators. Money has at most two decimal places; percentages have at most two. Use the same currency throughout. These tools assume a currency with 100 cents per unit.

Which pack is better value?

Enter the total shelf price of each offer and the quantity inside one pack. The pack count multiplies the quantity, not the price.

Offer A
Offer B

Compare mass with mass, volume with volume, or items with items. No mass-to-volume conversion is assumed. US and UK fluid ounces differ. Quantity must be positive and at most 1 billion; pack counts are whole numbers from 1 to 1 million.

A discount on a discount.

Each percentage applies to the price left after the previous discount. They do not simply add together.

Discounts must be from 0 to 100%. Enter 0 for an unused discount. Each resulting price rounds to the nearest cent, with half cents rounded up. Store checkout rules, taxes and fees may differ.

Share every cent.

Enter the bill amount you want to split, including any tax or charges you want included. The tip is calculated on that entire amount.

The tip rounds to the nearest cent, with half cents rounded up. Whole cents are shared as evenly as possible; some people pay one cent more so the shares add up exactly. People must be a whole number from 1 to 1,000. Tips must be from 0 to 100%.

The working, without the guesswork.

Two packs or one?

Offer A: two 500 g packs for 6.00 total gives 6.00 per kg. Offer B: one 1 kg pack for 5.50 gives 5.50 per kg. B is cheaper per kg. A 10% discount on A makes it 5.40 per kg, so A becomes cheaper.

Mass conversions use 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg and 1 oz = 1/16 lb. Volume conversions use 1 US fl oz = 29.5735295625 ml and 1 UK fl oz = 28.4130625 ml. Item counts compare price per item only; quality and usable yield are not measured.

20% then 10% is 28%.

100.00 × 0.80 = 80.00, then 80.00 × 0.90 = 72.00. The saving is 28.00, or 28%, rather than 30%. The result can differ slightly when a shop rounds only once at checkout.

115.00 shared three ways.

A 100.00 bill with a 15% tip totals 115.00. One person pays 38.34 and two pay 38.33. The total remains exactly 115.00.
